ZIM Logistics - General Manager - Sales (10-20 yrs)

The incumbent is expected to Lead and direct all day-to-day commercial activities (sales and customer service) of the country driving the business to hypergrowth, sustained profitability, efficiency, effectiveness and deliver a high level of customer service. Lead the team to ensure all business goals and commercial targets are reached and exceeded. Lead the country to long term success, being a role model for excellence, and constantly strive to improve and develop new business opportunities. Foster strong, mutually beneficial collaboration with country and global counterparts and with ZLN India colleagues to establish, sell and promote global freight forwarding products and operations . Lead the innovation and launch of new, profitable freight forwarding based products.


Key Accountability :

1. Day-to-day Sales/CS / operations activities -

- Lead the sales team in significantly growing the customer base and growing market share; and achieving country budget and sales targets.

- Customer Service - Lead the customer service, to provide the best level of service to customers and build trustworthy and long-lasting relationships.

- Lead Canada logistics operational support and global products with strong interface with the local and global network

- Lead the team to build up and maintain good relationship with existing and new customers and suppliers ( air/sea Carriers, trucking, warehouse)

2. Business Development -

- Lead business development activities, including innovating new freight forwarding products and services, with focus on especially landside logistics capabilities and also: Air, ocean, rail, warehousing and all other end to end freight forwarding products.

- Unlock synergies with other ZIM entities in Canada and across the global logistics network .

- Oversee business development, Sales, Customer Service and solutions, Operations and Shared services functions (Finance, HR, Admin and IT)

- Grow existing business (sea/air-freight forwarding, trucking, customs brokerage and warehousing)

- Expand customer base, agency network and strengthen carrier relationship

- Diversify into new business activities

- Create value added services to grow revenue stream


3. Process Innovation -

- Oversee and improve Sales and CS processes and interfaces with other departments, to drive efficiency, maximize profits and enhance customer experience.


4. Others -

- P&L management and targets.

- Sales/revenue target.

- Customer acquisition target.

- Report and provide insights on weekly/monthly KPIs

- Business growth

- Key CS outcomes.

Requirements :

- 10+ years- experience in freight forwarding, supply chain or logistics industry at management level with full P&L responsibility

- Extensive, in depth knowledge and experience of the global freight forwarding/logistics industry, with a strong commercial focus in large global scales. Ecommerce knowledge is a plus

- Experience in a medium to large forwarder in Canada, ideally leading a geography within Canada or managing a product or sales team.

- P&L ownership experience is advantageous.

- Expertise in promoting and developing new business and freight forwarding products.

- Local market knowledge is advantageous.

- Proven success in working in a global, high paced environment .
