Spar Hypermarket - Category Manager - Buying & Merchandising (6-11 yrs)

KEYTASKS &RESPONSIBILITIES : 

1. Category Strategy & Ownership :

a) Drive the Hypermarket's Vision through defining the category role & driving initiatives to meet the plan.

b)Plan right product assortments for each store at regional level to stay relevant for customers.

c) Ownership like an entrepreneur / Be a merchant / Build the category with a long-term view.

d) Constantly benchmark competition on product range and pricing to ensure leadership position on same.

e) Ability to handle across 100-300 lakhs rupees/month (Per Region).

f) Responsible for the annual volume which accounts to 300-500tons/month.

2. Vendor& Farmer Relations : 

a) Manage & optimize the use of supplier resources. Harness supplier knowledge to drive category development.

b) Manages strategic supplier relationships atsenior-level representatives.

c) Negotiate and close commercial trading with vendors(National & Regional) to meet the category objectives.

d)Conduct joint business planning with vendors and monitor performance on agreed metrics.

e) To develop good relationships with farmers for direct farm sourcing.

F)Coordinating with the trainers for the training of staffs for regional level stores.

3. Influence Cross Functions& Category Implementation : 

a) Implement category strategies & tactics with a sense of urgency to deliver the category plan.

b)Liaise with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category.


c) Work closely with Supply Chain Management/ Merchandising Planning & Replenishment team to optimize value chain and ensure stock availability.


d) Liaison with the store operation team to understand the customer feedback and drive strategies at ground level.


e) Understand the seasonal patterns for the availability of price volatility of fresh produce.


4.People Management : 


a) Develop strong personal competencies to add value tothe company. 


b) Cultivate a strong sense of urgency, can-do attitude& influenceto deliver on the objectives. 


c) Develop people skills that enable an open and strong relationship with vendors that deliver the business needs


d) Facilitate effective cross functional communication & collaboration.


e) Demonstrate high level of integrity and honesty in all business dealings. 


f) Hire and Develop best resources. 


5. New Store Commencement : 


a)Understand New Store Catchment and plan/Execute assortments,planogram.


b) Drive excitement and customer engagement through customized aggressive promotions / product launches.
