Responsibility:

- Copy-edits, proofs and prepares for publication, all the way up to printer's proofs, approx. 15 original titles a year.

- Liaising with publishing editors, writers and other clients.

- Marking copy with standard proofreading marks to notify writers and editors of necessary changes.

- Adding/deleting words, phrases or sentences to improve the reading of a text.

- Checking facts and statistics to ensure the text is accurate and correct.

- Making stylistic suggestions.

- Re-wording/re-working sentences or whole sections of text.

- Writes blurbs and assists relevant commissioning editor with the preparation of front matter and end matter to the above titles.

Education :

Minimum a graduate, degree in English, publishing or languages may be advantageous. An excellent command and understanding of the required language is essential.

Specific Experience : 2-5 years of previous experience in copy editing.
