What is Abis-

Abis- (Algorithm Based Investment Solution) is a fintech start-up aiming to provide investment advisory and portfolio management solutions through web-based and mobile app based platforms. The job demands an ambitious talent to establish the Abis- brand and able to manage and grow the overall business.

Abis- combines the 30+ years of experience of two founders, with one having association with investment management & research function and another one having rich analytics background and industry experience.

The founders have advanced post-graduate degrees in Accounting & Finance and Mathematics & Statistics from reputed institutes in India and have been associated with global banks and consulting organisations. Founders have headed teams in research and analytics for over a decade, with one of them also successfully establishing a start-up into risk & workforce analytics having top Indian banks, NBFC and insurance companies as its clients.

How is Abis- different-

Independent view: Like Basel influencing the banking industry as a whole, globally it will be MiFID defining the roadmap for investment advisory & management business from 2018. MiFID aims to demarcate advisory from trading & actual investing, finally aspiring to bring transparency in the business model as well as costs for the client. It will eliminate the bundled service approach where a financial consultant or advisor is paid on the basis of actual investments made by the client rather based on quality of the advice provided. Abis- is an independent investment advisor and portfolio manager with absolutely no conflict of interest between advisory and, trading or investing.

Transparency in approach: Abis- will follow a principle of transparency. It will track its every recommendation over period of time in a consistent and intuitive way from the customer's perspective and present the performance to customer in a comprehensive manner.

Recommendation Quality and characteristics:

1. Not ignoring human experience and expertise, recommendations will be driven by algorithms, based on facts and figures like financial statements, prices movements, industry & company coverage & news, and that too rigorously and regularly tested & updated

2. Customized for each user - based on specific inputs related to age group, risk profile and willingness for exposure to different asset classes

3. Wide coverage of investment instruments - flexibility and diversification

4. Awareness and consideration of risk appetite i.e. volatility in expected return

Asset Class Coverage: Abis - will not be limited to a specific investment bucket like mutual funds or commodities or forex but will provided investment solution engulfing all asset classes enabling a client to manage direct equity exposure in both large & small to mid cap stocks, mutual fund investments across debt and equity, commodities, real estate, fixed deposits, provident funds and any other form of private and government investible paper.

Functional expectations from the candidate

1. Marketing: Achieve the targets - new customers (paid versus subscribed) and also manage the renewal base

2. Strategy: Devise and execute the marketing strategy for the product. Build new customer segments and expand the B2C coverage

3. Analytics: Ability to analyze existing customer data and app/ web footprint data to derive key insights facilitating sales, marketing & product upgrade strategy

4. Brand Development: Ability to build a fintech brand from its infancy

5. Operations: Ability to oversee operations including customer service and queries

6. Presentation & forecasting technique to facilitate management reporting and partner funding

7. Media interactions: Ability to facilitate M&A in the appropriate phase of the product life-cycle and handle media interactions

Qualifications

The candidate should have excellent communication skills. The applicant should be passionate about business development and customer management with an ambition to build a global brand and organisation. The candidate should understand that this role is progressive and high level adaptability is expected given the competitive and ever changing nature of the industry. Finance combined with technology is the most dynamic, flexible and evolving area in terms of client expectations and hence the role can graduate to any level depending on the growth of the business and shift in the Industry.

Reporting

The candidate will directly report to the two co-founders and also expected to have a team of 2-3 employees reporting to this role. The team structure will remain flexible, depending on the phase of the development of the client base and size of the business.
